ANNA P. BOYLE SWEETMAN, 90, of Manchester, formerly of FREEHOLD, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Bartley Manor, Jackson. Anna was born in Philadelphia, moving to the Freehold area at the age of 3. She remained a resident here for most of her life. She resided with her daughter in Indiana for 13 years following her retirement, but her heart was in the Freehold area, and she returned here and finally settled with her daughter in Manchester, until recently becoming a resident at Bartley Manor. She was a lifetime member of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. Anna was formerly employed by A&M Karagheusian carpet manufacturers along with many members of her family. She was also employed as a finisher for several clothing manufacturers in Freehold, before becoming an employee of Brockway Glass, serving as a packer until her retirement in 1984. She was a former member of the "Squadettes" auxiliary of the Freehold First Aid Squad, Women's Auxiliary of Freehold Lodge 1454 BPOE, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Michigan City, Ind. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a devoted daughter, sister and aunt. She lavished her time and energy on all her family, unselfishly putting the interests of others above herself. She will be greatly missed, and her memory will be forever cherished.
Anna was predeceased by her father and mother, Michael and Mary Boyle; her brothers, James, Michael, John and Hugh Boyle; her sisters, Mary Casterlin, Rita Nazaruk and Bella Daly, as well as her former husband, Edward H. Sweetman, and son-in-law Richard L. Havlin. Anna is survived by a son, James R. Sweetman, and his wife, Susan, of Howell; two daughters, Mary K. Havlin of Michigan City, Ind., and Margaret A. McGinn and her husband, Richard, of Manchester; her grandchildren, Richard L. Havlin Jr., Steven Havlin, David Havlin, Theresa Russell, Kenneth Havlin, James R. Sweetman Jr., Mary d'Hedouville, H. Lynn Cannon, Michael Sweetman, Catherine Sweetman, Kathleen Collins, Patricia McGinn and Marjorie Paternoster; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Freeman Funeral Home, 47 E. Main St., Freehold. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold. Interment will be in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Freehold First Aid Squad, 18 Spring St., Freehold, NJ 07728.
