Mrs. Lydia E. MoDermott, wife of William McDermott of Freehold, was struck by the locomotive of an express train on the Pennsylvania railroad at Freehold last Thursday morning and was instantly killed. Mrs. McDermott saw the approaching train, and hurriedly crossed the track. Just as she reached the opposite side of tbe track she was struck by the locomotive. Mrs. McDermott was about 67 years old. She was the daughter of Joseph Thompson of Manalapan Township. She was married to William McDermott in 1850. Her husband and six children survive her. The children are William McDermott, Jr., France McDermott, and Mrs. Norman W. Foster of Freehold; Charles McDermott of Belmar, and Mrs. William W. Wheeler of Como. The
funeral was held on Saturday.
